With an eye on neighborhood pride, local historians, Sam and Deborah Thomas, are now re-issuing the highly-sought history of Louisville’s Crescent Hill. An updated version of the classic book, Crescent Hill: Its History and Resurgence, is now available for modern readers. Pairing up with Winfrey Blackburn and his recent release, Country Houses of Louisville, Carmichael’s will host a book signing with the trio celebrating the heart of what makes Louisville, Louisville.
First issued in 1978, Crescent Hill quickly sold out its first small-batch printing, and, since this inaugural launch, it has been out of print and a difficult prize to find for local lore junkies. After many years of tweaking and updating, the Thomas’ have now produced a new rendering of the classic history, complete with fresh text and photographs to reflect the changing neighborhood.
As part of the Olde Tyme Christmas Celebration on Frankfort Avenue, Crescent Hill and its authors will be on hand tomorrow afternoon at 4pm to sign copies of the prized history; join Winfrey Blackburn and the two Thomases for a historical Holiday weekend and celebrate Louisville's unique past.
