The University of Louisville has big plans for improving its campus and student body this upcoming school year, starting with their biggest back-to-school event yet, CARDSfest. And though the plan for this one-of-a-kind community event was just recently formally announced, its promise of bringing together Louisville’s best live music and food from its best hometown restaurants already has the whole city talking.
But what about the guys behind the festival? Local musician 1200 is partnering with his good friend Bob Muntis, president of the Cardshirt Company to make CARDSfest possible. Founded nearly ten years ago by students and faculty members of the University of Louisville, the Cardshirt Company’s original goal was to be the main provider of the University’s Game Day shirts while offering business experience to interested students. And as a campus-based company, it became very successful very quickly.
Now the nonprofit company has branched out and has started partnering with businesses outside of the University to produce shirts and other promotional products to raise money for their partner's charity of choice as well as student scholarships.Along with raising money for academic causes, one of the Cardshirt Company’s main goals is to provide excellent business experiences to students of all areas of study. “Our mission statement is to provide students with experience for their first internship and career, and to also raise money for scholarships to keep students in school,” Muntis states. The company provides student opportunities in each of its departments including marketing, accounting, product design and social media. All students seeking experience in their field of choice are welcome to join.
The Cardshirt Company’s current office and shop are located in the business school building on the University of Louisville’s Belknap campus. If you’re a student looking for more information on how you can get involved, visit the Cardshirt Company's website!
