For a week that starts off a little sluggish, it definitely picks up by the weekend. There are a few opportunities for multiple stop evenings, but thank goodness it is spring break, so we’ll be attempting to catch them all. For location, time and cost, click on the link for each event. Check back at livemusiclou.com after the events for our full reviews.
Tuesday (4/7)-
Sound and Vision: Movies about Music
Start your week of music off with a movie about music at the always cool and collected Seidenfaden’s Café. Local music personalities choose the weekly movie, there is usually some food involved and there is no cover- perfection.
Wednesday (4/8)-
We can only imagine what this ten piece band will look like on the tight Zanzabar stage and how their sound will fill the dimly lit bar. Lead lady Kam Franklin and her troop of musicians will bring some neo-soul to one of our favorite spots.
It is a good thing Zbar and The New Vintage are right next door to each other, because we do not want to miss either of these shows. Luke Wade is a Texan whose music brings that small town feel to the forefront with a certain vulnerability that is very becoming.
Thursday (4/9)-
Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express with Local Villains
Chuck Prophet has had a legendary career both solo and as a part of varying bands. His stuff has been pretty popular among the premium cable channels and his most recent venture, which includes a backing band named after a bus line that runs through his neighborhood, should present the new album Night Surfer as well as some of his classics. Louisville’s Local Villains will be getting things started, who also have a new album out.
Friday (4/10)-
Phourist and the Photons will be dropping In Infinite Indigo and sharing it with the rest of us at this show at The Rudyard Kipling. Joining the band of the evening will be their fellow Louisville friends, Tall Squares, Cher Von, Dream Eye Color Wheel and Brent Mathis.
Blockhead and Mono/Poly with Ellie Herring
Successful producer, Blockhead, as well as Mono/Poly and Ellie Herring will be playing some entrancing live sets at Headliners.
Saturday (4/11)-
This day is certain to be something Hunter S. Thompson would thoroughly enjoy. With that peace of mind, come out for one of the first festivals of the season down on the waterfront and enjoy local jams from 1200, Twin Limb, Vessel, Graffiti and more!
Twin Limb and Twenty First Century Fox
Twenty First Century Fox has new music out, with this Zanzabar gig in support of the release of Pet Rounds. And, Twin Limb twice in one day? No brainer.
If you have not seen Zach Longoria cover some of your favorites or soulfully belt some of their own stuff, you’ve missed out. Other local R&B artists will be on display including Jalin Roze.
