It's time to stock up the garden since this apocalyptic storm system is just about finished with Louisvillians. On Saturday there will be two great events to collect flats and flats of plants!
First, Yew Dell Botanical Gardens in Crestwood is putting on their 9th annual Plant Sale and Garden Market. They are boasting plants, vendors, gardening-goods, kid activities, food, annual Greater Louisville Bonsai show and more. Click here for a list of available plants. Members (with up-to-date memberships) get in free and early access at 9am Saturday. Everybody else pays regular admission ($7 for adults, $5 for seniors, free for kids) and can't start shopping until 10am. Sale lasts until 4pm Saturday and 11am to 3pm Sunday. If you don't see any must-haves on the plant list above, I'd save a run to Yew Dell Botanical Gardens for later Saturday afternoon--or Sunday even--and hit up the Spring Native Plant Sale and Garden Expo being held (Saturday only) at the Louisville Nature Center first thing. It's free for all starting at 9am and ending at 4pm, and the Louisville Nature Center website warns that the popular varieties are expected to sell out in a jiffy. Pick up some garden guidance from Margaret Shea, native plant expert from Dropseed Nursery, while you peruse the large variety of native flowers, shrubs and trees that will be available for purchase.
