As of this writing, the Midwest is digging itself out of a massive snowstorm while those of us in Louisville will be contending with slick roads for the morning commute. What this usually means is function over form takes over when it comes to dressing for the conditions. While this is understandable – everyone wants to be warm and dry after all – one needn’t have to forgo style while being cozy. Rain boots. They are the most important item to have on days like this, especially if you have to walk through an area with poor drainage to get to where you need to be. Bean, come with Thinsulate or shearling built into the boot. Either option will add a touch of style while protecting your toes – and your pants or leggings – from cold and wet environments.
The proper coat makes all the difference, and you can take on the upcoming trends for spring no matter if it’s raining or snowing. For example, if you were wanting to try black and white, this two-tone piece would be a great start. And of course, add a bright pop of color – such as a headscarf or a turtleneck sweater underneath – to make the rest of the outfit stand out. If things are a bit chillier, puffer jackets and coats will keep you toasty without the need for fur. If you’re worried about resembling a certain French tire manufacturer’s mascot, look for puffers with quilted stitching or thinner batting to give you the results you desire.
