    Bit to Do

Bourbon By The Bridge Supports CASA
    Print this page

Saturday, June 14 from 6-9 p.m., CASA will host a bourbon tasting fundraiser at the base of the Big Four Bridge.  Representatives from Angel’s Envy, Boundary Oak Distillery, Gruppo Campari (Wild Turkey and Russell’s Reserve) Brown-Forman, Four Roses, Heaven Hill Distilleries, and Jefferson’s (Castle Brands) will be on hand to pour samples and talk about their products.  A cash bar featuring Old 502 wines will also be available. Enjoy jazz music and an array of appetizers, with a ticket cost of $75--these can be purchased in advance or at the door.

Castle Brands, the parent company of Jefferson’s Reserve, will be serving a signature cocktail they are calling a bourbon slushee, in addition to their 8 and 18 year bourbons.  Heaven Hill will be pouring single barrel Evan Williams, Elijah Craig, and Larceny bourbons, as well as a cocktail featuring PAMA pomegranate liqueur.  These are just a few of the bourbons and cocktails that will be available at this event.

This is an excellent opportunity to try lots of different bourbons in one place.  You can also walk the bridge at night, which I haven’t yet had the opportunity to do.  The icing on the cake is that this event raises funds for CASA.

CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, recruits and trains people to advocate for children in family court, help kids find adoptive homes, or track down biological parents who don’t know that their child needs a home.  Last year they helped 465 children, relying solely on charitable donations.  Other states fund CASA, but Kentucky is one of seven states that doesn’t.  This fundraiser is needed to provide necessary help to abused and neglected children.

It’s time to go drink great bourbon for a great cause.
