So by now you’ve all heard me ramble on about local various acts gracing our fair city, how about I moved back from NYC and am still pleasantly surprised at the constant stream of great music here, and even about one of the catalysts of some of these visiting acts, Hunter Embry.
Well this article bodes to be a bit different as I finally come to you to celebrate local artists The Bad Reeds, whom Embry front-mans, album release show! The Bad Reeds have been honing their musical arsenal for a few years now, but this soulful blend of bluesy rock and roll, delivers with passion. Back in July I had the pleasure of witnessing The Bad Reeds open for Black Joe Lewis and a lot of popular consent was that they stole the show. That’s a pretty significant claim, but which ever contender you say took home the championship that night is irrelevant, as the fervor with which The Bad Reeds play, and their live delivery, is amazingly powerful. Embry is supported by Dane Rodriguez, Brantley Nall, and Clay Burchett but his raspy growl is distinct and just as commanding as the instrumentals. Needless to say, all of this goodness translates onto their album flawlessly, as yes I’ve heard it and no I won’t send it to you.
Tomorrow night, Headliners packed the lineup with local artists warming up and if the last Bad Reeds’ performance is any indication of what’s in store than it is certainly not to be missed. Get ready for pure soulful goodness and if you’re lucky you can even catch them tomorrow at WFPK’s Live Lunch. Doors for that open at 11:30, but the actual show is only 10 dollars and tickets are available in advance below. Do yourself a favor and get to Headliners tomorrow! Perhaps if you’re lucky, you’ll even get some of the poison in your well.
