    Bit to Do

Did you notice the beautiful bowl and plate photographed above?                        Those are MINE.

Do you know where I got them?                                                                        An ART FAIR.

Want some beautiful dishes of your own? How about a painting? Artsy clothes or jewelry? Lawn ornaments?                                                                Then go to Art on the Parish Green this weekend.

This festival has a special place in my heart because it was my first introduction to New Albany. Two years ago, my family and I packed up our bags, loaded up a giant moving van, and trucked our way down to this fine town. That weekend was Art on the Parish Green. So we took a break from our unpacking, and checked it out.

We met lots of local artists, toured the beautiful St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and snagged us some lovely items to decorate our new home. As I recall, that was also my first introduction to Graeter's Ice Cream. Yum.

But word is the New Albanian Brewing Company will have a beer garden there. Alas, since I have become sadly unable to eat dairy, I will have to make due with beer. Le sigh.

What I haven't gotten to do yet is tour Culbertson Mansion. Just my luck, they are offering tours on Saturday during the fair. And holy crap how did I not know the mansion served double duty as an inn? Neato.

In addition to having over 52 artists, this festival will also feature live music, special activities for kids, food, tours of the church. There will even be carriage rides.

Art on the Parish Green is Saturday from 10am- 9:30pm (exhibits, however, only run until 6pm) and Sunday from 12-5pm. Admission is free!

Also, be sure to bring cash or your checkbook - many vendors do not accept credit cards.
