The Alley Theater will bring back audience favorites, bring forth new shows, and show off its new location during its 2014 spring theater season.

Alley Theater's inaugural run in its new location (at 633 West Main Street in downtown Louisville) will feature returning favorites including: The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) (Mar. 6-13) and Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less (Mar. 7-8).

The theater company will also present new-to-Alley productions like The Pretty Things Peep Show (Mar. 4), Shakespeare's King John (Mar. 20-23), Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens (Apr. 24-May 18), Alley Theater Young Actors Workshop Showcase (May 22-23), a Star Trek original preview (May 24), The Ruffian on the Stair, and The Dumb Waiter (the latter two in repertory June 4-22).

Alley Theater, after hosting the InHuman festival the previous two years, will present a new theater festival Superhuman: A Festival of New American Superhero Theater (Mar. 27-Apr. 19), which focuses on original works with a superhero theme. Ticket information for all shows can be found at the Alley Theater website.

Ruffian, Dumb Waiter, Saucy Jack, and the Superhuman festival will be open for auditions on Feb. 1 and 2 from noon-3 p.m. at Alley Theater. Auditioners should come prepared with headshots in triplicate. If auditioning for a musical, auditioners should also bring a MP3 or CD with music and have 30 seconds to 1 minute of a song in a disco or swing style prepared. Auditions will also consist of a cold reading from a script.

All the action takes place in Alley Theater's new space, which is still under construction. Alley Theater's construction fund has been moving closer to its goal of $6,000. On Jan. 20, the fund reached $2,704.

Donations to the construction fund can be made until the goal of $6,000 is reached. Donations, as well as other information about the theater company, can be made at the Alley Theater website or the Alley Theater Facebook page.
