Writer Amy Talbott occasionally writes about the weird stuff you find in the Louisville section of craigslist.org. But recently Louisville took its Craigslist quotient up a notch.
25 year old Marcus Forbes allegedly test drove a 2007 Dodge Charger that was advertised for sale on the website with the owner of the car riding shotgun. That point is a salient one that we’ll come back to.
The indecent took place in Scottsburg and the test drive happened there which is how Forbes allegedly arranged things with the Charger owner. According to the charges, Forbes came with an entourage. They dropped him off as he waited for someone to bring the cash to close the sale.
As the test drive went on, Forbes is said to have refused to bring the car and owner back to their residence. That’s when the owner pulled out his previously unmentioned handgun while also placing a call to the police. Forbes is charged with criminal confinement, false informing, attempted theft and conversion. And now you know why people call “shotgun.”
Meanwhile, Louisville Metro Police arrested a giant basketball star after the Kentucky Oaks because he was drinking beer just outside Churchill Downs around 7:30 which is around the time people were leaving the track, some with alcohol.
21 year old Louisville Cardinal Mangok Mathiang was walking down 3rd Street when a friend was arrested. Mathiang was told to move on but he followed the cops instead to see about his friend. He dropped his can of Bud Light which was enough to have an athlete who is about to have a breakout season charged with drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place and failure to disperse. That made LMPD look awesome during Louisville’s day at the track.
But Ryan MacDonald may have the most interesting story. Allegedly he was at 1st and Main when he told a woman to stop her car so she could drive him somewhere because he was a police officer. She didn’t do it because she thought his badge looked fake.
Turns out that was a good call considering the badge was a photocopy. He confessed that he did it but said he really needed of a ride. For his trouble he was driven to jail and charged with impersonating a peace officer. Don’t think that’s where he wanted to go.
