Everyone’s favorite day of the week is finally here: Friday! We can all agree Friday night is without a doubt the best part of the week. It’s the first night you’ve had in five whole days you can spend blowing off some steam and relaxing. But whoever said you had to save all the fun for just Friday night? The fun should start as early as possible.

Mayor Fischer seems to agree, which is why he’s inviting everyone to join him for his monthly Music & Arts Series this afternoon!

“Louisville has an international reputation for its music, performing and visual arts," Mayor Fischer said. "We are showcasing a diverse mix of performers and artists in the Mayor’s Gallery, which has great acoustics and comfortable seating,”

On the first Friday of each month, Mayor Fischer will be hosting his Music & Arts series and will feature a variety of handpicked local artists. Each show is free to the public, and guests are encouraged to bring a lunch from one of Louisville’s many locally owned and operated restaurants. Because the Mayor's Gallery is a historic site, outside beverages are not permitted, but Louisville Pure Tap water will be served to those in attendance.

This month’s performance will feature the soulful blues of the popular local R&B group, the Zach Longoria Project. And in the beautifully historic setting of the vintage Louisville Metro Hall building, this is sure to be an experience you won’t want to miss!

The series will continue next month with a performance by Flamenco Louisville on August 6 and then Bonnie “Prince” Billy on September 3. And if you can’t make it out to the show, turn your television to Louisville’s MetroTV channel (Time Warner Cable channel 25) to catch a taping.
