A Christmas classic comes to Derby Dinner Playhouse as A Wonderful Life opens tomorrow.

A Wonderful Life will take place each day except Mondays from Nov. 20-Dec. 31. Evening performances are to go on at 7:45 p.m. with doors and buffet starting at 6 p.m. Matinees, meanwhile, are to go on at 1:30 p.m. (or 1 p.m. for Wednesday matinees), with doors and buffet opening at 11:45 a.m. All performances are to happen at 525 Marriott Drive in Clarksville, IN.

Tickets for each show are $36-$45 per person, depending on the performance date. All tickets can be purchased at the Derby Dinner box office, the Derby Dinner website, or by calling Derby Dinner at 812-288-8281.

A Wonderful Life focuses on George Bailey, is a good man in a bad part of his life. He's forced to take over his father's company in order to keep it from closing. During this time, his uncle inadvertently loses the company's money, putting George on a path toward financial disaster and possible jail time. Seeing no other alternative, he resolves to kill himself.

Before that happens, Clarence, George's guardian angel trying to earn his wings, intervenes. What follows is George seeing what would happen if he was not in the world and, eventually, finding the true meaning of life.

A Wonderful Life is based on the Frank Capra-directed movie It's a Wonderful Life. Sheldon Harnick created the lyrics and book for the musical, and Joe Raposo created the music. For Derby Dinner Playhouse, Cary Wiger is Clarence, and Edward Miskie is George Bailey.

During A Wonderful Life's run, Derby Dinner's children's theatre will present The Most Famous Reindeer of All. That production opens on Saturday.
