    BFA Thesis Project Exhibit Opening Reception at Schneider Hall Galleries
    Twenty-five candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Louisville will showcase their thesis projects. The student work featured in the exhibitions represents each of the Hite Art Institute’s studio areas including drawing, painting, photography, glass, sculpture, textile and performance installation. Each student’s collection is comprised of pieces that represent their unique vision and his or her readiness to enter the professional art world after graduation.

    Show Boat LIVE on the Belle of Louisville

    A casino night aboard the Belle of Louisville with Kentucky Opera! While aboard, we’ll be rolling on the river with performances throughout the vessel from Kentucky Opera’s Studio Artists.     Cherokee Triangle Art Fair
    The Cherokee Triangle Art Fair is a juried fair with more than 200 artists’ booths. The outdoor event is in Louisville’s historic Cherokee Triangle neighborhood on tree-lined Cherokee Parkway between Willow Avenue and Cherokee Road adjacent to the Gen. John Breckinridge Castleman statue. The Art Fair includes dozens of veteran exhibitors as well as new artists not only from Louisville and Kentucky, but also from out of state. Art Fair patrons can view and purchase original art and often meet and talk with the artists. Fairgoers also enjoy food, drink, entertainment and music. On Saturday evening, music and food service will continue until 8 p.m.

    Schnitzelburg Rock
    The Schnitzelburg Rock is a new all-day music festival, which will take place on April 25, 2015. It will be held at The Cure Lounge, located at 1481 South Shelby Street in Louisville. The concert will feature 10 local musical acts. Headlining the festival will be and Jack Holiday & the Westerners, a popular freak folk rock group; and The Mighty Auroch, a well-known doom metal band.  The Schnitzelburg Rock will take place the same day as the Spring Schnitzelburg Walk. The goal is to bring more people to the Germantown neighborhood and to increase attendance at the Schnitzelburg Walk. Attendees to the Schnitzelburg Rock will be allowed to come and go as they please and will be encouraged to visit the Schnitzelburg Walk between bands.

    Tour de Lou at Waterfront Park
    The Kentucky Derby Festival is partnering with Louisville Bicycle Club to produce Tour de Lou. The Festival’s second annual bike event is for all ages and all levels of experience. The Tour de Lou route will be an open course, which will start and finish at Waterfront Park near Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville.  There also will be two separate distances based on experience levels: the course highlights include an Olmsted Park Tour, including Shawnee, Chickasaw, Wayside, Iroquois and Cherokee parks.  Cyclists on the more experienced rides will also travel through all areas of the city from Downtown and Churchill Downs to the South End and Highlands.

    GospelFest at the Chow Wagon
    GospelFest will be held on Sunday, April 26, on the Music Stage at Chow Wagon.  Check back for a complete list of 2015 performers. GospelFest opens at 2 pm and will feature choir performances beginning at 3 pm. GospelFest returns to the Chow Wagon Stage in Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront.  Admission is free with a 2015 Pegasus Pin.

    Louisville Youth Orchestra Concert
    This is the sixth year for the Louisville Youth Orchestra Concert to be part of the Derby Festival’s main event schedule. Admission is free with a 2014 Pegasus Pin. The beautiful setting in Iroquois Park will offer music lovers a scenic and relaxing venue for this popular concert.
