    ReSurfaced: Three Days at 10th Street
    This October City Collaborative's ReSurfaced initiative is continuing the campaign to breathe life into our city's underutilized urban parking spaces. We are working with community partners to activate a surface lot at 10th Street on the Riverwalk of the Louisville Loop in conjunction with the Louisville Commission on Public Art's 'Connect/Disconnect' public art project. Join us for three days October 15 - 17 to enjoy music, design, community discussions, local beer, and local food, in a reimagined urban space with beautiful views of Downtown Louisville and the new public art installations of Connect/Disconnect.     Flea Film Series
    This month The Flea off Market is introducing, in partnership with Louisville Film Society, "The Flea Film Series", which will present free movies every night, Mon Oct 12th - Sun Oct 18. In keeping with the season, we will be showing great, creepy movies this month. There will be s'mores to munch on for kids and adults alike. The weather looks perfect for a night out getting spooky with an awesome movie. Here is the schedule of films for this weekend.Not interested in the movies? Head on down before the show to the beer garden, listen to great music courtesy of DJ Jeremy Wright, and enjoy delicious cheap craft beer from breweries like West Sixth and seasonal cocktails, while soaking up the Indian Summer! Show time every night is at 8 p.m. From 5 p.m. until movie start time, there will be hot-buttered popcorn, and food trucks.

    Victorian Tales of Terror
    This Halloween-themed event presents ghostly scenes (some based on historical events) set against the spooky environment of the 130-year old Victorian neighborhood at night. It’s the perfect event for theater enthusiasts, history buffs and those looking for an old-fashioned Halloween scare. The “Victorian Tales of Terror” is 100% volunteer-produced, so all proceeds benefit the beautification and restoration efforts of the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council and future neighborhood-sponsored events.

    Tours leave every ten minutes and last 45-60 minutes.

    4th Annual Gear-Up Louisville
    The event will feature a full day of speakers, including Master Distiller Marianne Barnes and Ontra Caples of Downhome Tea, who will share best practices, strategies and success stories to help foster success for local business owners and entrepreneurs.

    Westport Village's Third Thursday Shopping Night
    On the third Thursday of each month, Westport Village stays open late and treats shoppers to a night of entertainment and special deals. As the weather turns crisp, it’s the perfect time to spend the evening at cozy Westport Village. This month, local musicians The Harmony Brothers, Laurie Jessup and Cort Duggins will perform live around the shopping center all evening. Enjoy buy-one-get-two-free ice cream bonbons from The Comfy Cow and many more deals from the fine retailers and restaurants at Westport Village!

    Highlands Halloween Parade
    What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a parade? The streets are filled with ghouls, goblins, and creatures of the night at the Highlands Louisville Halloween Parade. Many of the local haunted attractions, costume stores, and other Halloween events come out for the event. You can even see some really great Halloween floats!

    Night Spirits - Murder Mania
    Costumed actors will portray “spirits” telling true stories of 19th century murderers in the rooms of the Lanier Mansion. Between 7 and 9 p.m., groups of 20 will depart from the Lanier/Madison Visitor Center at 15 minute intervals for the one hour tours. Reservations for the desired time are strongly recommended.

    StageOne's "The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)" Featuring Squallis Puppets!
    StageOne Family Theatre opens its 2015-16 season in October with "The BFG (BIG FRIENDLY GIANT)." At 24 feet high, the gentle BFG is a dream catcher who delivers sweet dreams to children. With the help of an orphan named Sophie, the two set out on a quest for dreams; but soon find themselves battling against child-eating giants! Featuring puppets from Squallis Puppeteers, this Roald Dahl classic is fun, thrilling, and a pure delight for adventurers of all ages!

    Nighttime Observatory Event 
    South Harrison’s observatory has some of the best equipment in the region thanks to a partnership with Jefferson Community and Technical College and our Park Astronomer, Henry Sipes.Nighttime Solar astronomy program.

    2nd Annual Fried Chicken Throw Down
    The 2nd Annual Fried Chicken Throw Down will be at the new ReSurfaced lot at 10th Street and the Ohio River in downtown Louisville. This sustainability inspired culinary competition will award cash prizes of $500 to the best chicken, best side, and best dessert, and the winners will be selected by ballot voting amongst the attendees. Participating restaurants will include Royals Hot Chicken, Wiltshire on Market, Joella's Hot Chicken, Farm to Fork, Over the 9, Roux, Marketplace, Gilberto Gelato, and others.

    The Rivalry Gala will be a one-of-a-kind evening with a limit of 100 seats. Celebrity Chef Edward Lee will prepare an exclusive three-course meal, will greet guests as well as present the dinner. In addition to Chef Lee’s involvement, there will be red and blue carpets for photo ops, a formal presentation of the American Cancer Society honorees, live and silent auctions, tethered hot-air balloon rides, an afterparty with band Familiar Faces, and local celebrities.

    Quiet Hollers’ Masquerade and Album Pre-release Party
    The Quiet Hollers are throwing a semi-formal masquerade and pre-release party for all of our Louisville friends, family, to come celebrate with us. Especially for the contributors of the Indiegogo campaign that allowed this album to come to fruition. Cake and champagne will be served, and there will be exclusive access to the new album. Because many supporters chose to give anonymously, they may now attend anonymously! There will also be a silent screening of a “documentary” the band filmed while on tour in August. The band asks that formal masquerade attire be at least somewhat observed. This event is 18+

    Fleur de Flea Vintage Urban Market
    Louisville's finest outdoor vintage urban market will take place this Saturday on the Waterfront Plaza on the banks of the Ohio River. Over 200 vendors from all over the South will be selling their vintage, antique, collectible, re-purposed, recycled and reclaimed goods. Check out the Kentucky Proud section and take home something unique. The best food trucks will be on hand serving lunch. Local craft beers will be available, as well as wine and sangria all day. The Market is a short walk from all the downtown hotels and a must-do for all out-of-town visitors. You don't want to miss this, it only happens twice a year!
