Matt Wallace has been named as the new Producing Artistic Director of Kentucky Shakespeare. Wallace has been involved with Kentucky Shakespeare (formerly The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival) since 2001 in various capacities, including lead roles in several summer productions, artistic associate, and as director of Richard III, the Festival's 50th anniversary production in 2010.
The Bowling Green, KY native has worked extensively with Derby Dinner Playhouse as both an actor and as Director of Children’s Theatre and Audience Development. He is the current Artistic Director of Shakespeare Behind Bars (SBB), a program founded by former KY Shakes Producing Artistic Director Curt Tofteland.
Wallace takes the reins of Kentucky Shakespeare following the unexpected departure of former Producing Artistic Director Brantley Dunaway. Dunaway resigned suddenly in July amidst controversy surrounding the premature closing of the summer production Twelfth Night in Central Park.
