Murders, mysteries, and retellings of classic stories are among the shows that are to occur in Louisville and southern Indiana on Halloween.

Seven Halloween and murder mystery-related shows will take place during Halloween weekend including: Derby Dinner's A Party to Murder, Whodunnit's Murder Behind the Curtain, Alley Theatre's Sweeney Todd, John Hetzel Productions's Frankenstein, Pandora Productions's Rocky Horror Picture Show, Actors Theatre's Dracula, and The Mystery of Irma Vep.

Among the murder mysteries will be Derby Dinner Playhouse's production of A Party to Murder. During Halloween weekend, guests are on a remote island expecting fun but instead seeing murders. The production will occur on Oct. 30 at 7:45 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m. Buffet will be served beforehand.

Also among the mysteries is the Whodunnit production of Murder Behind the Curtain. A killer is on the loose after a murder occurred on a horror movie set. The audience will help determine who committed the murder. The mystery will take place on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.

Alley Theatre's Sweeney Todd will be among the classics presented during Halloween. The Stephen Sondheim-created show has Todd seeking revenge and having meat pies created for victims/customers. Sweeney Todd will run on Oct. 30 and 31 at 8 p.m. each night.

In southern Indiana, Providence will play host to an updated version of the classic Frankenstein. The production focuses on Victor Frankenstein's attempt to control creation and end people's suffering, but the attempt goes horribly wrong. Frankenstein will take place on Oct. 30 at 2 and 8 p.m. as well as Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.

A cult classic and Pandora Producations favorite, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, will return for Halloween. On a special night, Brad and Janet have arrived and will soon be involved in the castle events of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a scientist from planet Transexual. Rocky Horror Picture Show will occur on Oct. 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m.

Finally, Actors Theatre will have two opportunities for shows with a classic story, Dracula, and a mystery, The Mystery of Irma Vep: A Penny Dreadful. Dracula features the title character's thirst for blood and the hunt to destroy him before he takes more victims. Meanwhile, in Irma Vep, two actors will perform eight roles in a mystery that parodies multiple genres.

Dracula will occur on Oct. 30, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., as well as Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Mystery of Irma Vep will take place on Oct. 30 at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. in Actors Theatre.
