    Bit to Do

Understanding owners needed for this week’s group of featured adoptable Pit Bull
    Print this page

*Ulpdate: I am happy to report all dogs in this article are now gone from the shelter except Teddy who is in urgent need of adoption at this point. Free obedience training is offered by Slugger City Bully Buddies for him if you adopt Teddy.

When there is negative media around a member of the Pit Bull breed all Pit Bulls get blamed for it. As a result there are higher numbers of this breed ending up at shelters and they are at high risk of euthanasia because of the public perception that this breed is untrustworthy. Actually for the vast majority of Pit Bulls in responsible homes the truth is the total opposite, they are just like other dog breeds. Note I used the word RESPONSIBLE dog owners. Slugger City Bully Buddies is an organization devoted to turning the tide around on the negative perception of the Pit Bull breed and offers free obedience training to all dogs adopted from Metro Animal Services with Pit Bull breeding so they will become model citizens of the breed. You can email them for more information on their obedience training classes at info@sluggercitybullybuddies.org.

Please check out the following adoptable dogs for your consideration that are of the Pit Bull breed.

Little baby Pit Bull Stella has wound up at the shelter through no fault of her own. This little girl needs to be in a loving home not at a shelter. She is spayed and ready to go to her forever loving home. Little Stella is qualified for free obedience training when she gets old enough at Slugger City Bully Buddies if adopted. If you are the right person to bring little Stella up right then have her Pet ID # A484143 when contacting Metro Animal Services about her.

Rufus is a pretty Pit Bull mix who already knows commands. He is a social guy who needs his understanding owner. Pit Bull bred dogs that are adopted from Metro Animal Services are eligible for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies, so Rufus could learn even more commands. If you are interested in giving this handsome guy a loving forever home then please have his Pet ID # A483398 ready when contacting Metro Animal Services about him.

Nugget is another little baby Pit Bull that has found himself at the shelter. He needs to be in a loving home not at the shelter. Unfortunately who ever bred this puppy did not take the responsibility for him and here he is. If you are interested in raising little Nugget up right he is eligible for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies when he gets old enough and he is already neutered. If your are interested in little Nugget please have his Pet ID # A484182 handy when contacting Metro Animal Services about him.

Hemmy is a large male Pit Bull that despite his large stature is very easy going and people friendly. Just because he is a Pit Bull does not mean he is a mean, unpredictable aggressive dog. That type of dog is usually made that way by irresponsible breeders or owners. Hemmy is neutered and ready to go to his understanding new home. He is eligible for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies. If you are interested in Hemmy please have his Pet ID # A484073 handy when contacting Metro Animal Services about him.

Wilma has been featured before and she is a young large female Pit Bull who just needs to go home with someone who understands Pit Bulls. She is already spayed and eligible for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies. She has been at the shelter for too long and needs a home. If you can give her a good responsible home please have this big young girl’s Pet ID # A481296 handy when contacting Metro Animal Services about her.

Zues is another big boy who is well mannered and social. Zues is a Pit Bull and that means he needs to be adopted by understanding owners as he has also been at the shelter for too long and is at a very high risk of euthanasia. He is eligible for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies. Can you give Zues a new lease on life before its too late for him? If you can give him the responsible home he needs then have his Pet ID # A467926 ready when contacting Metro Animal Services about him.

Teddy is a 9 month old Pit Bull mix. He needs his second leash on life. Teddy is already neutered and eligible for free obedience training at Slugger City Bully Buddies. Can you give Teddy his responsible loving home? If interested in young Teddy please have his Pet ID # A484253 handy when contacting Metro Animal Services about him.
