Just when I thought I was getting somewhere featuring homeless pets for Louisville Metro Animal Services on here each week I find out that so many more homeless pets have ended up there since the last time I did this article. The need is great for finding these adoptable pets new homes so please if you are looking for a new pet why not give one of these a new leash on life?

Berkley is a small neutered male Rat Terrier mix. Happy little Berkley is looking for someone who will play with him. He has a short tri-colored coat of brown, black, and white. If you would be interested in Berkley please have his Pet ID # A470332 ready when contacting us.

Bijou is a young spayed female Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler). Do you need a working dog on the farm? Bijou might just work for you. If you are interested in giving Bijou a chance then please have her Pet ID # A456849 when contacting us.

Boi Boi is a large neutered adult male Pit Bull. Pit Bulls are a most misunderstood breed of dog. They are very loyal and loving to their human. If you are a person who understands what Pit Bulls are all about and are willing to get Boi Boi out of this cage then please have his Pet ID # A441033 ready when contacting us.

Boo is a young male Boxer/Pit Bull mix. Look at Boo’s sad little face. He wants to go home and be someone’s faithful companion. If you think he could be your buddy and are interested in Boo please have his Pet ID # A471637 ready when contacting us.

Ceasar is a young male neutered French Bulldog mix. Ceasar says, “Take me home, ya know you wanna.” If you are interested in little Ceasar please have his Pet ID # A472176 ready when contacting us.

Kittens and more kittens, as well as many adult cats are ending up at Louisville Metro Animal Services. They have so many cats and kittens that need homes. Please, if you are looking for a kitten or cat for your family consider adopting one from LMAS as these are spayed or neutered and will no longer contribute to the exploding unwanted cat population.

I noticed the number of Pit Bull dogs ending up at LMAS is increasing. It is high time that breeders of Pit Bulls took responsibility for the animals they breed. Breeding Pit Bulls just to see them end up at shelters, including those shelters whose policy is to euthanize all Pit Bulls (LMAS does not have this policy), is inexcusable.

The exploding unwanted pet population is a result of owners not spaying or neutering their pets. This irresponsibility is then tossed off on to the shoulders of shelters to deal with the unwanted offspring. Be a responsible pet owner and spay or neuter your pets, don’t contribute to the problem.

If you are interested in any of this week’s featured pets please contact Louisville Metro Animal Services at: 502-473-PETS (7387), or by email: Petfinder@louisvilleky.gov
