Local rescues in the Kentuckiana area rely on foster families to take in adoptable dogs in need until they can be adopted. The rescues are running out of room and those that must rely on foster homes for needy dogs could use more foster families to take in more dogs on the urgent list at Louisville Metro Animal Services and other local county shelters so they can get the needed time to be adopted or they are at high risk of euthanasia. If you think you might be willing to help out in this way you can contact one of these local rescues:
No Kill Louisville: website
Derby City Dog Rescue: website
Southern Indiana Animal Rescue: website
Animal Care Society has their own no kill shelter but is needing to get many of their adoptable pets adopted so as to make room for more pets in need. To see the pets available you go to their website.
Here are this week’s featured urgent group of adoptable dogs who are at high risk at Louisville’s Metro Animal Services:
Tyson is an adult male Pit Bull that is already neutered and ready for his new home. Come meet Tyson and see if you are the one to be his hero. If you are interested in Tyson please have his Pet ID # A488968 handy when contacting Louisville Metro Animal Services about him.
Willow is a pretty American Bulldog mix. She is already spayed and ready to go home with someone. If you think you can give this pretty girl her new leash on life please have her Pet ID # A453064 at the ready when contacting Metro Animal Services about her.
Angel is a sweet 8 year old female dog about 20 to 25 lbs. Because she is older and the shelter is getting very overcrowded she is at very high risk of euthanasia. She is spayed and ready to go home and love the hero who won’t let her spend the remainder of her life in the shelter. If you are willing to adopt or foster her have her Pet ID # A488357 ready when contacting Metro Animal Services about her.
This female 1 year old dog is a Jindo mix. The shelter says she is super smart and good with other dogs. She is at high risk of euthanasia right now due to the severe overcrowding at the shelter. If you are interested in meeting this girl and being her savior please have her Pet ID # A488053 available when contacting Metro Animal Services about her.

Sadly due to severe overcrowding at Metro Animal Services there are many dogs now at risk of euthanasia who need either adopters or foster homes. If you live in Jefferson County in Kentucky you can foster directly through Metro Animal Services by going to their website and filling out their foster application here, or if you live outside Jefferson County you can fill out a foster application at one of the rescues that use foster homes above by going to their websites.
