You won’t have to wait until the 2016 Summer Olympics to get a taste of Brazil with the fabulous Trio

    Brasileiro

coming to town next Thursday, May

    8th

    .

Half of the highly regarded Brazilian

    Choro

    ensemble, Trio

    Brasileiro

formed in 2011.  Since then, Trio members Douglas Lora,

    Dudu

    Maia and

    Alexandre

Lora have captivated audiences with their passion for the music of Brazil.  2012 brought the Trio its first United States tour with performances in New York, Minneapolis and Seattle among others and next week it returns to Louisville.

From the Trio’s website: “Their stunning virtuosity is matched with remarkable musicianship and a deep devotion to the language of music, allowing them to achieve a one-of-a-kind sound that shares equal parts understated subtlety and irresistible groove. But it is their love of the traditional music of Brazil and the connection between brothers – by birth and by bonds of friendship – that create a very rare and profound beauty.”

Also in 2012, the Trio released its first recording,

    Simples Assim

.  Check out this recent performance.

Currently on its latest tour of the United States, Trio

    Brasileiro

will be performing at the Clifton Center next Thursday, May

    8th

.  The performance will begin at 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online here.
