An Afternoon of Brahms With Nada Loutfi and Classical Hour
    Print this page

Johannes Brahms is the name of the game Sunday afternoon at the Clifton Center in the latest of Nada

    Loutfi’s

    fantastic Classical Hour series.

Inspired by salon concerts and radio programs she used to host for

    WUOL

    , pianist extraordinaire Nada

    Loutfi

    began the

    Classical

Hour some three years ago.  Having since moved to the Clifton Center from the lobby of the Brown Hotel, the Classical Hour is, according to

    Loutfi’s

website, “a welcome adventure in good music.”

    Loutfi

, Artistic Director of Classical Hour, has been a figure on the international stage for many years.  After graduating from Indiana University and the Paris Conservatory (where she was the first Middle Eastern woman to win First Prize in Piano), she had her American orchestral debut with the Louisville Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven under conductor Lawrence Leighton Smith. An active local musician,

    Loutfi

is also the founder of Purely Piano Inc., a nonprofit organization that sponsors piano recitals within the community.

Tomorrow, Classical Hour will continue its celebration of Brahms this month in a concert of diverse chamber music that includes some of his beautiful

    lieder

and his exquisite trio for clarinet, cello and piano. The

    performance will also feature tenor

    Kenji

    Tashiro,

    clarinetist Ernie Gross and cellist

    Megumi

    Ohkubo.

The performance is free and will begin at 4 pm on Sunday, May

    25th

.  It will also be broadcast live on Crescent Hill Internet Radio more information about which can be found here.
