Tonight Zanzabar will be staging May’s Communion Presents.  Brought to town by Communion Music, the monthly, touring showcase features some of the best up and coming artists in the country.  The monthly residency shows are filled with some of the most buzzed about musicians around, and they are expanding their monthly showcases to even more cities other than Louisville, like:  Washington, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and Rock Island.

This month’s Communion show will feature Peter Matthew Bauer, who rose to notoriety as one of the founding members of influential New York art rock bands The Walkmen and The Recoys.

Firekid is a Nashville based singer/songwriter, who hails from the legendary music town of Muscle Shoals, Alabama – and tells a myriad of foreboding tales through an amalgam of influences.

Bridge 19 is a local folk collective that puts a fresh spin on a classic genre.

The Communion begins tonight, May 13th at 8:00 PM at Zanzabar.  Tickets are $13.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
