Led by official new lead vocalist, Matt Walst, Canadian rockers, Three Days Grace landed at the Mercury Ballroom and blasted it to pieces. After previous lead singer, Adam Gontier, left the band for vague “health reasons” nearly a year and a half ago, Walst officially took over this year despite singing since Gontier's departure.
The fans who lined up outside the venue prior to the doors opening were not disappointed.
Simply put, the band delivered. I could not tell the difference between vocalists perhaps, since the volume of this show was as high as it gets, it was a live show or that they sound a lot alike. New vocalist and all they are definitely still Three Days Grace.
After playing songs of their latest release, Transit of Venus, they hit some of the numbers that made them famous including, Never 2 Late, Animal and playing Riot during an encore.
The band expressed appreciation of the strong support with the change of bandmates this past year. At several points they threw, guitar picks, t-shirts and water bottles to the animated crowd of fans. Many bands with new singers are never the same but it appears Three Days Grace has not missed a beat incorporating Walst into the group. Certainly it is to their fans’ relief and delight.
