TARC is adding buses on regular routes for Thunder Over Louisville Saturday, with boarding after the event limited to five staging areas blocks from the waterfront, a repeat of service that worked well for last year's Thunder.

About 10,000 passengers are expected to choose TARC and avoid parking hassles for the annual fireworks event on the river this year.

Buses will be added to 15 routes starting at about 3:30 p.m., adding capacity and resulting in more frequent bus arrival times at stops.

The post-event boarding areas are designed to keep buses away from the heaviest traffic and to get people home as safely and quickly as possible. Buses will run until 11:30 p.m. Because of bridge closures, there will be no return trips on TARC from Louisville to Southern Indiana after the fireworks.
