TARC is adding buses on regular routes for Thunder Over Louisville Saturday, with boarding after the event limited to five staging areas blocks from the waterfront, a repeat of service that worked well for last year's Thunder.
About 10,000 passengers are expected to choose TARC [4]and avoid parking hassles for the annual fireworks event on the river this year.
Buses will be added to 15 routes starting at about 3:30 p.m., adding capacity and resulting in more frequent bus arrival times at stops.
The post-event boarding areas [4] are designed to keep buses away from the heaviest traffic and to get people home as safely and quickly as possible. Buses will run until 11:30 p.m. Because of bridge closures, there will be no return trips on TARC from Louisville to Southern Indiana after the fireworks.
