    Bit to Do

In March, the Kentucky Humane Society opened the doors of their newest location at 1000 Lyndon Lane, and it has been one of the best things to happen to our furry friends on the east end of Louisville.

The second you walk through the door, you know it's a special place for animal lovers. There are puppies and adult dogs of all breeds and mixes, playing and hamming it up for their next potential owner. There are kittens and cats purring, waiting to be loved. And, there are families smiling and loving the pet's antics, trying to decide which one to take home.

It's a full service facility that offers pet adoption, grooming, doggie daycare, and behavior training.

And now, kids have the opportunity to attend a summer camp with these great animals.

It's called Animal Adventure Camp, and gives kids ages 6-12 the chance to have a fun time while expanding their knowledge of animal care.

Erin Clephas, who works at the Lyndon location, says the Animal Adventure Campers will experience arts and crafts, guest speakers, videos and skits. The goal of the camp is to build a sense of kindness, respect for life and responsibility.

The children will be able to feed and give baths to adoptable pets, participate in animal-related games, and learn about the reponsibility of pet guardianship.

The response to the camp has been outstanding, so an additional two weeks have been added to the schedule. Other locations are also offering camps. Please call (502) 515-3149 for more details.

Also, catch the Ky Humane Society at the Lyndon Fair on June 18 and 19 at Robsion Park. And don't forget, they are always looking for great homes for the dogs and cats, so it's the purrfect (pardon the pun) time to consider adopting a pet. Stop by the Lyndon location to get a peek at your next best friend!
