Next Friday, May 29th, will be the Furry FAT Friday Trolley Hop! The trolley hop is a free, family-friendly event that will introduce you to the Frankfort Ave. area, stopping at various businesses, dining locations, galleries, boutiques, and shops. This month, the Trolley Hop will be raising awareness, support, and money for the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS). Consequently, this trolley hop will also be pet-friendly, and there will be special pet events as well as sites for KHS donations throughout the night.
The Trolley Hop will run from 6p.m. to 10:30p.m., and participants will be able to park at any of the free parking locations and board at any of the stops along the route. The trolley will run from Cannons Lane to River Road, through Butchertown, and then to Mellwood. It will continue on this loop throughout the night.
At the various stops, there will be refreshments, free entertainment, and even some discounts. One of the special events of the night will be the Yappy Hour Wine Tasting at The Wine Rack from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. Attendees will be able to sample Chateau La Paws, a brand of wine that donates a portion of their profit to no kill animal shelters. Donations to KHS will also be able to be made at this location.
Another pet-friendly event will be at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home, where they will be hosting some adoptable pets and providing information on becoming foster parents for shelter animals. Other fun events include The Comfy Cow, offering a buy one get one free pooch pop for your furry friends, and Lexie’s Trading Post, collecting KHS “wish list” items as well as providing treats to your pets. Below is a list of some other special pet events going on that night.
Margaret's Consignment: There will be foster pets in the courtyard, 10% off cash purchases, live music, and refreshments.
Bourbon Barrel Foods: There will be samples of some favorite recipes and beverage as well as water for your pets. Donations for the beverage samples will be 100% donated to KY Humane Society.
Fierce Salon: There will be promos for those who donated to the "wish list", treats for your pets, and John Paul Pet products available for purchase.
Sweet Surrender: There will be dog treats for purchase.
A Readers Corner: There will be treats for your dogs and a drop off site for "wish list" donations.
Sister Dragonfly: They will give 20% of all of their FAT Friday sales to KHS.
Consider Boutique: There will be artwork from local painter Britany Baker as well as a donation site for KHS' "wish list" items.
The Trolley Hop is working with KHS for this particular night in recognition of the importance of spreading awareness about KHS and all that they do, the awareness of the multitude of animals in shelters, and the awareness of the opportunities to foster or even adopt them. They hope that this night will be a success, that people will enjoy as well as learn about the different options when looking for a new furry member to add to the family, and that KHS will benefit from this night and continue on with the work that they do.
