    Bit to Do

After a busy summer vacation spent in Michigan last year, and putting down a nice chunk of pocket change at the Sugar Bowl in Lou’Orleans over NYE, my family and I have decided to take a break this spring break. Isn’t it ironic that families need a break during their breaks?

If you’re one of thousands staying in the L.A. (Louisville Area), and you still want your kids to partake in some educational, entertaining, enthralling activities…here are some of my picks. My daughter is going to head to an Uptown Art day camp, which occurs April 1-4 from 10am-2pm ($50) and we might check out some of the April is Earth Month events at the Louisville Zoo. You may find some options for your kids’ break, which in turn, leads to your break.

Once again, these are just a few of the plethora of choices that caught my eye. You can find many more spring break and summer camp ideas compiled neatly and conveniently here, by Louisville Family Fun.

StageOne Family Theatre DramaWorks, Kindergarten-5th Grade

Students will explore the basics of acting on the stage during these half day or full day camps. April 1-5, 9am-12pm or 9am-4pm; $150-half day or $250-full day. Call 502-498-2436 or visit www.stageone.org for more information.

    Louisville Free Public Library

Many of the branch libraries as well as the Main Library are hosting spring break programs during the week of April 1-6. We’re heading to Camp Creative!, at the Main Library on Wednesday, April 3 at 2pm. Check out the calendar for more information, or call 502-574-1611.

All About Kids, KaZoing! Party and Play, and SkyZone Louisville have your bounce time covered.

Barnes and Noble at The Shoppes at Plainview, Saturday, April 6, 2pm

Just Between Us: A Parent Daughter Event is an American Girl themed workshop designed to go along with “The Care and Keeping of You” book series. Call the store at 502-426-0255 to sign up; it’s for girls ages 8 and up.

My family and I are going to become tourists in Louisville. We’re going to pretend that we are visiting and spend some time exploring our downtown. On my daughter’s spring break bucket list are the following stops: Kentucky Science Center, Belle of Louisville, Adventure Playground at Louisville Waterfront Park, and an overnight stay at the Galt House. We are so excited about our Louisville locals turned Lonely Planet Top 2013 Destination family adventure.
