On Saturday, May 19, 2012, The Speed Art Museum is offering Free Admission. It is International Art Museum Day and The Speed Museum wants you to celebrate with them. This free admission will extend to the Art Sparks Interactive Gallery and all Museum event and exhibits.

International Museum Day organized by the International Council of Museums “creates the opportunity to focus attention on the role of art museums on our continent, as part of ICOM’s global celebration of museums.”

The Speed Art Museum always encourages visitors of all ages to share their museum experiences during the year and on Art Museum Day a specially printed form will be available both at the museum and via social media with the hash tag #ArtMuseumDay to collect public response about the museum and their experiences.

The Speed Museum believes that by providing free admission it allows participation in this international event which “highlights the value of the visual arts in society, and provides new opportunities for audiences to participate in wide-ranging programs and record their encounters with works of art.”
