Saturdays…do they get boring? Do the children complain they have nothing to do? Tired of weekend TV and housework? Are you always looking for something new and fun? I have the answer, at least for one day!
Studio...it is normally considered an artist's workroom, an establishment, building, or group of buildings or a company that teaches any arts, music or dance. The word Studio is derived from the Latin: studium, meaning to study or zeal.Joe Autry's studio Open Air steps aside of the normal studio meaning and is exactly what the name makes you think of, in the open air. However, the definition that matches Joe, and the other artist making up Open Air Sculpture Studio perfectly, is having definitely studied with zeal. Their hard work and love for their craft shows in their art.
Bones...when someone thinks of bones, they think of the human skeleton. I automatically think of the song my grandmother taught me when I was a little girl; The ankle bone connected to the shin bone, shin bone connected to the knee bone, knee bone connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone connected to the hip bone and you go all the way up until you connect the neck bone to the head bone. The rest of the song talks about tripping over shoelaces and being a fool. The Bones on exhibit at the Arts Council of Southern Indiana, Pat Harrison Arts Center had nothing to do with the human bones or that song...however I'm sure that Mary; the resident ghost (so the story is told) also sung that song to her children and grandchildren.
There is no better way to explain an artist ideas or views of their art than their own words. This is what Kimberly Carroll-Raber has to say about her art...
The Carnegie Center's fundraiser was in full swing last night as the about 300 benefactors and patrons who bid silently, and some not so silently, enjoyed the delectable delights of Catering by Design and sampled wines from Huber Winery, several other winery and The New Albanian Beer Company. BUSTA Dog was busting some moves to 107.7 WSFR, well that is to say his brats, bison dogs and other delicious "dogs" were moving as people lined up to sample Busta Dogs covered in onions, peppers, potatoes or anything on his list.
