    Bit to Do

    Print this page

With gray skies and cold temperatures outside, it does not take long
to experience midwinter cabin fever. Some might choose to watch a movie
in the warmth of home, but the perfect prescription to end this
debilitating disorder is to get OUT OF THE HOUSE and DO
SOMETHING.Perhaps, there is no better time to kick off the Southern
    Indiana Weekend Agenda.

Here are three ways to get out and enjoy Southern Indiana this weekend.

    Paoli Peaks
It's not Aspen or the Alps, but we're talking about southern Indiana. I
can think of no better way to celebrate winter than hitting the slopes
(except maybe watching Hot Dog, Ski Patrol, Ski School or another of
those decidedly terrible ski movie of the 1980's and 90's).

Paoli Peaks offers skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. There is also
free WI-FI in the lodge for those less adventurous or want to watch a
movie on Netflix.  Friday and Saturday nights are Midnight Madness
Nights in Paoli, so ski until 3:00 in the morning (if you dare). This
Saturday, they will be hosting the Jibs, Jumps and Donuts Slope Style
Competition. (I wonder if I'll be able to watch a montage of the
    competition.)

    IU Southeast Homecoming
Winter nights in Indiana belong to basketball.  One of the great sports
movies of all time featured Indiana high school basketball and was
appropriately titled “Hoosiers.”  Even though people on the south side
of the Ohio River might disagree, the college game has deep roots in
the Hoosier State too.  No, I'm not talking about the fact that “Blue
Chips” was filmed in an Indiana high school gym, either.

While coaching legends Bob Knight, Nick Nolte, and Gene Hackman
won't be attending, the Grenadiers of IUS take  the court Saturday for
a doubleheader against Asbury College.  The 13-7 Lady Grenadiers remain
undefeated in conference play and tip-off the homecoming festivities at
6:00pm. The Men are ranked fifth in NAIA Division II with a record of
16-3 and are also undefeated in KIAC play. Their game should start
    around 8:00pm.

    100% Poly at PHT
Yes, you read that right and yes I know geography...  I know Phoenix
Hill Tavern is on the Louisville side of the River, but if Orlando
Bloom can drive across the bridge to get to “Elizabethtown,” we can
most certainly cross it to catch have enjoy one of those “Boogie
Nights” for a little “Saturday Night Fever” from southern Indiana's own
    70's and 80's groove band.

These are just a few ideas, or I guess you could just stay home and watch a movie.
