Local musician and promoter Eddy Metal takes pride in the fact that he's had the longest running and most popular original music series in Louisville history. For years he has organized Rock for Kosair, an event that brings together charitable tidings and heavy rock and roll. In an interview with Angeline Davis at Examiner.com, he explains his reasoning on starting up this annual event:
"I was working doing construction in the summer of 05 at Frazier Rehab downtown right next to Kosair childrens Hospital. I saw all the sick kids coming in and out everyday, and I thought about the ones who weren't doing too well. It made me want to help, maybe cheer a few kids up, or maybe bring a little happiness to some kids who are going through a rough time. So I invented the concert for toys/rock for kosair idea. And decided to do it right before xmas to help the Kosair people out when they most needed it."
- In its sixth consecutive year, the Rock for Kosair event will return to Phoenix Hill Tavern this Friday, November 19th.
- Featuring:
- The Zoo Kings, Ugly, Autumn Canvas, Nova Red, Some Kind of Sain, Bonejinn, Factor 9, Burning Babylon, Snotozzy & The Crazy Babies, 16 Bones, Trust Divided, Heatherfield, E-Flat, Year of the Gun.
- In addition to the great music, there will be a raffle giveaway for three guitars. There's a $10 minimum donation at the door, but it's well worth the cause and for a memorable night.
- The event starts at 8 P.M., and as usual, ages 21+.
