Wouldn't it be nice to go out on your porch/balcony/stoop this summer and pick some succulent fruit right there on the spot? Squeeze in some learning tomorrow morning at Bernheim Forest before celebrating at Thunder Saturday night. Bernheim's popular new series of gardening classes--"Smart Garden and Landscapes"--each center around teaching sustainable horticulture practices that are applicable to any space, no matter how much concrete surrounds your home. Tomorrow's program hones in on growing fruit, berries, and nuts sucessfully in our Kentucky climate. You will be surprised at how many varieties do well here.
Each class takes the form of a hands-on workshop taught by Bernheim Forest horticulture staff. The workshop tomorrow (April 15th) begins promptly at 10am and is scheduled to end at 12pm. The attendees should meet at the Research Center. The class costs $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
So, city-slickers, feel welcome to attend and learn how to morph your yard, rooftop, or street side into green and food-producing area that's good for both you and your environment.
