Kentucky Reggae Festival at the Louisville Water Tower
More than ready for the sounds of summer--accompanied by a vibrant Caribbean atmosphere, complete with ethnic food, a vendor market, and what’s shaping up to be a weekend of perfect clear skies? Head down to the Louisville Water Tower on River Road and, for only $10 per ticket before 6 p.m., spend your afternoon at the annual Kentucky Reggae Festival. The Festival will run from Saturday May 24 at 2 p.m. to Monday May 26 at 1 p.m. Don’t forget your lawn chair!

BBQ Blues & Bikes in Elizabethtown

Louisville and the Great War Special Exhibit at the Conrad-Caldwell House
Is an afternoon of crowds and loud music--and the hot sun--not exactly your thing? If you and your family are seeking something new and educational to do this Memorial Day weekend, be sure to devote a day or two to the Conrad Caldwell House right here in Louisville. With this new exhibit of WWI collections owned by local collectors and organizations open to the public through June 8, you won’t be at a loss for a little bit of history. Tours run $10 for adults and $6 for seniors and children, and are available at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. weekends. The museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Flags Across America 2014 Memorial Day Vigil at Waterfront Park
It’s important to remember the meaning behind this long weekend and what your free Monday truly means--it’s commemorative of the men and women who have given their lives for the protection of our country. Pay respects by attending the 2014 Flags Across America Memorial Day Vigil this Saturday, where attendees can volunteer to place 15,000 Veterans’ grave flags on the Great Lawn to honor the military.

Free Summer Movies at the Iroquois Amphitheater
Movies Under the Stars is back! Starting Saturday May 24, attendees to the Iroquois Amphitheater throughout the summer can enjoy classic Hollywood films in one of Louisville’s most beautiful parks. Metro Parks Golf Memorial Day Weekend Family Golf Special
Metro Parks is making it easy to find a new way to get your family active with its Memorial Day Weekend golf special for families! A family of four can play a game of 9 holes for the low price of $20, including greens and cart fees, running from from Saturday May 24 to Monday May 26 and starting at 4:30 p.m. on each day. Attend Abbey Road on the River
From May 22 to May 26, Louisville’s famed musical event will take place at the Belvedere Festival Park, Muhammad Ali Center, and Galt House hotel. Come out to see one--or all!--of the more than 60 live bands and artists, including The Beach Boys, Ambrosia, John Sebastian, the Jukebox, and of course a variety of Beatles cover and tribute bands, with over 200 performances on eight stages. Music starts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Muhammad Ali Center, 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Vintage Vinyl, and 12:00 p.m. Monday at Belvedere Park. Tickets are $20.

Hike, Bike and Paddle
If golfing isn’t for you, why don’t you try a different outdoor activity, for example hiking, rowing or biking--or all three? Beginning at the top of Waterfront Park’s Great Lawn, this event includes many outdoor activities like hiking, biking and paddling routes, morning yoga and tai chi, a kayak rolling contest, a variety of booths, and a welcome by Mayor Greg Fischer. Attendees will also get free admission to the annual Kentucky Reggae Festival on Memorial Day--just for attending!--with passes available at the Reggae Festival Booth.
