    Bit to Do

Got useless facts rattling around in your brain? It's time to cash in that valuable education--or time spent reading the tabloids--for cash and prizes at St. Francis of Assisi's Trivia Night this Friday, Jan. 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall, 1960 Bardstown Road. (Doors open at 6:30 p.m.)

Answer questions in categories such as Soul Music, Movie Titles With Animals and Comedians and compete for prizes, including $100 cash to the winning team and hundreds of dollars in gift certificates. On top of that, there will be prizes for the Best Team Costume and Best Table Decoration as well as a Split the Pot drawing. The entry fee is $75 per eight-person team. If you don't have seven friends smart enough for the challenge, come by yourself, pay $10 and they'll find you some other heads to put together.

Bring the kids--babysitting is $10--and enjoy light snacks and beverages from the St. Francis Boosters and the Bluegrass Brewing Company, available for purchase. And Trivia Night sponsor City Scoot is offering free rides home to anyone who consumes too much, so if you need to drink to think, this is the place. Like to watch? Spectators are welcome--there will be teams representing UofL fans vs. UK fans, SFA committees and SFA grades and any other rivalry you can come up with. (No joke--a kindergartner and a second grader recently were overheard trash talking about the "butt-kicking" their parents were going to administer to the competition.)

All profits will go toward a basketball goal for the courtyard, the next Whitley City food drive, renovation on the Teen Club and more. You do not have to be a parishioner to participate, but you do have to call or e-mail Eugene Carner at 456-6394 or ecarner@ccsfa.org by 4:00 p.m. Thursday with your team name and number of persons participating.Photo: Flickr/JonDissed
