    Bit to Do

The Upper Highlands Neighborhood Association will celebrate its sixth annual Festival in the Upper Highlands this Saturday, June 26 on the front lawn of Atherton High School, 3000 Dundee Road in the Highlands—and there truly will be something for everybody.

The rain-or-shine festival will include (take a deep breath)…a 20-animal petting zoo for kids, live bluegrass music performances, free cookies from The Bakery at Sullivan University, face painting and more. Local handicrafts will be available for purchase, and attendees will have the opportunity to win door prizes.

On the community front, the Louisville Police and Louisville Fire Department will have K-9 and mounted horse patrols on hand; nonprofit groups such as the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service (Master Gardeners), Alley Cat Advocates and the Louisville Sierra Club will be there; and District 8 Metro Councilman Tom Owen and Lynn Renau will give presentations on the history of the Highlands at 11:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively. And if all that fun doesn’t take it out of you, the American Red Cross will be happy to accept your gift of life during the blood drive from 11:30 to 3:30.

And this just scratches the surface! (Did I mention comedy, plants, free chiropractic exams and…

? How much bandwidth do we have?)

Admission is free and the only cost is for food (and, as mentioned, you can still come away with some of those goodies for nothing). For more information or to have your group represented, call festival chairman Mike Kolb at 452-6057.
