Love your pet? Of course! In celebration of the blessings animals bring to our lives, Bellarmine University will have its annual Blessing of the Animals tomorrow, October 4, at 5 p.m. in the Quad.
Around the year 1200, a young Italian man, Francis of Assisi, gave up his inheritance to live a life of austerity; it is said that when he spoke of God, even the birds stopped to listen. In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi—and the Highlands—not only will all God’s creatures receive blessings, but there will also be three special contests for pets whose owners wish to go the extra mile: cutest costume, cleverest trick and most unusual. (No pressure.)
The event is free and open to the public, but please make sure that your pets are appropriately restrained via leash, cage, carrier or bowl, and of course please clean up any accompanying messes.
