My family had the pleasure of attending a performance of "Walking With Dinosaurs" last night. Though the show was not completely sold out, Freedom Hall had an strong crowd of dinosaur enthusiasts--both young and old.
Part Broadway spectacle, part seventh-grade Science class and part "Jurassic Park," the show was impressively staged. Set amidst a proscenium thrust stage, the production wove interesting dinosaur and paleontology facts into a compelling storyline involving our favorite extinct reptiles.
Without a doubt, the stars of the show were the giant robotic dinosaurs. These beasts were incredibly lifelike and true to scale of their astounding size. While Jack remained relatively unimpressive by the show's technological grandeur (he's only 14-months-old) the enthusiasm of the older children all around us was palpable. When the 30 foot tall Brachiasaurus took the stage, it seemed like every kid in Freedom Hall was about to wet their pants with collective excitement.
"Walking With Dinosaurs" runs through tomorrow (Sunday) only here in Louisville. I would definitely recommend the show for ages 3 and up. Plenty of people seemed to be buying tickets right before the performance, but you can go here to purchase tickets ahead of time.
