Derby Festival Basketball Classic features future Cards, Hoosiers and a Cat

The 2013 Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic has released the roster of high school basketball stars that will travel to Louisville to play in the 40th incarnation of the game. The Classic tips off on Friday, April 19th at Freedom Hall at the Kentucky Expo Center and is sponsored by Papa John’s and and Fifth Third Bank.

This year, fans will see Louisville signees Anton Gill and Akoy Agau as well as Kentucky’s Derek Wills and Indiana signees Troy Williams, Devin Davis, Luke Fischer and Stanford Robinson. In fact, nearly every player participating in the game is ranked in the Top 50 of the national recruiting classes by organizations such as Scout.com and Rivals.com.

Since 1973, some of the brightest up and coming high school basketball stars have played in the Classic. You’ll recognize names like Darrell Griffith, Isaiah Thomas, Pervis Ellison, Moses Malone, Dominique Wilkins and many, many more. In a basketball crazy region like the Ville, fans love this game.

Along with the Classic, the players will also go to Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to participate in the Horseshoe Foundation Night of Future Stars the night before on Thursday, April 18th. That evening features the 3-point shooting competition, two-on-two games and the crowd pleasing slam dunk competition. That’s also a good night to get an autograph from the ballers of the future because there is a one hour autograph session built in. There is a two item limit, though.

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster or at the Freedom Hall box office at (502) 367-5144.
