Did you know Louisville is home to a professional lacrosse team? According to their website, the Kentucky Stickhorses is “the first professional lacrosse team in Kentucky and features talent from the Louisville area as well as players from across the country.” The team plays in historic Freedom Hall.

This Saturday, December 15 at 7pm, your family can watch the Stickhorses take the field at Freedom Hall in the Black/White intra-squad scrimmage. The event is free and open to the public, and according to Kristi Nelson, Executive Vice President, is completely family friendly. “We will have two youth lacrosse teams scrimmage at half time - they love to play on the same turf as the pros! After the scrimmage is over, all the kids will be invited down to the field for autographs and photos with the players.” The scrimmage sounds like a great opportunity to bring your kids and introduce them to this sport. Perhaps you have a future lacrosse player in your midst!  KaZoing Party and Play! will also be there providing inflatables and other super kid-friendly activities.

Admission and parking are free for the scrimmage. The concession stands will be open as well. They are also hosting a free skills clinic at Freedom Hall from 4pm-5pm on Saturday, December 15. It will be led by Head Coach Pete Schroeder and several of the players as they teach several lacrosse skills. As a courtesy, they ask that parents register their children for the clinic on the website so that they will know how many to expect.

The Kentucky Stickhorses Indoor Professional Lacrosse team is gearing up for their second season. They open their season on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Freedom Hall. Ticket information can be found here. The team competes in the North American Lacrosse League (NALL) and the play-offs will also be held at Freedom Hall.

You can also follow the Kentucky Stickhorses on Facebook. Please call the Freedom Hall Box Office at 1-800-231-8085 or email info@kentuckystickhorses.com for information about single game tickets.
