There isn’t a better way for 2-9 Seneca to close out 2011 by claiming the Gas light classic trophy at Jeffersontown high school. The three day tournament runs from 27th to the 29th and hosts Jeffersontown, Tates Creek, St. Bernard Roger Bacon OH, Thomas Worthington OH, Worthington Kilbourne OH Gainesville FLA, Fairfield AL and the Seneca Redhawks. After being thumped last thursday 52-69 by the Apollo Eagles in the Apollo/Kentucky 811 holiday tournament, the Redhawks look to build some momentum and start strong in the second half of the season and new year.

Seneca is on a seven game losing streak and creating offense has been a serious problem as they are averaging 49 points per game in that stretch. Jeffersontown is on the other side of the pendulum, sporting a 7-4 record and number 14th ranking. Already enjoying the home field advantage by hosting the holiday classic, they are one of the favorites to win it. Seneca takes on Fairfield in the first round of action and would face the winner of Worthington Kilbourne vs Jeffersontown.

Born and raised in west Louisville, I am a mass media/advertising professional and proud University of Louisville and Morehead State University Alum. Having traveled over 20 states and overseas in my 24 years of living, I try but continue to struggle to find a town that can come close to the beauty, uniqueness and diversity found in Derby city. Louisville high school athletics and Cards Basketball consume me!
