At the beginning of the season I’m pretty sure Brown high coach Justin Leonard aimed for a more impressive mid-season record than 1-15, but that is exactly where his team currently stands. The Bears suffered a humbling defeat Saturday against Kentucky Country Day (6-8) in the Shelby County tournament by a score of 80-47.

Kentucky Country Day took control of the game from tip off and never looked back. The Bearcats boast a veteran squad, led by five seniors. Center Blake Scinta used his solid 6’8” frame to wreak havoc in the paint area all night. Scinta led the way with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds.

Brown is winless in January, 0-2 in league play and have lost nine out of their last ten overall. They will look to put this loss behind them and prepare for a tough road game versus Eminence High school (4-12) this Wednesday. This is the second matchup between the schools this season as the Eminence warriors knocked off Brown 69-40 December 20th.

    About Jameson Bennett

Born and raised in west Louisville, I am a mass media/advertising professional and proud University of Louisville and Morehead State University Alum. Having traveled over 20 states and overseas in my 24 years of living, I try but continue to struggle to find a town that can come close to the beauty, uniqueness and diversity found in Derby city. Louisville high school athletics and Cards Basketball consume me!
