6th region semifinals kick off: Pleasure Ride Park battles Moore
    Print this page

    Sixth Region:

    Tuesday at Atherton High School

    • Bullitt East defeated Fairdale 61-52.
    • Butler cruised past Southern 68-57.
    • Pleasure Ridge Park edged Jeffersontown 71-65.
    • Moore outlasted Doss 52-46.

    Today at Bellarmine College.

    • Bullitt East faces Butler at 5:00pm.
    • PRP takes on Moore at 7:00pm.

Tuesday, March 6th at Bellarmine College.

    • 6th Region Finals at 7:00pm. Bullitt East/Butler Winner vs. PRP/Moore winner.

Thoughts: I fully expect Bullitt East to run over Butler due to their overwhelming size down low. This isn’t a knock on Butler by any means but Derrick Willis should have a field day in the paint. I expect PRP and Moore to go down to the wire, but I see Moore advancing due to their excellent depth.

    Seventh Region:

    Tuesday at Bellarmine College.

    • Central upset Eastern 64-61.
    • St. Xavier dominated Seneca 50-36.
    • Trinity obliterated Male 63-44
    • Ballard was victorious over Manual 70-56.

    Yesterday at Bellarmine College.

    • St. Xavier knocked off Central 70-59.
    • Trinity survived Ballard and escaped with a 58-55 win.

Monday, March 5th at Bellarmine College.

    • 7th Region Finals at 7:00pm. Trinity vs. St. Xavier.

Thoughts: This game doesn’t carry as much hype as their annual football matchup but Trinity versus St. Xavier hoops still should be equally as exciting. Both squads are looking to claim 7th region championship bragging rights. St. Xavier probably has some extra motivation as this is their chance to seek revenge for their humbling 18 point loss at the hands of Trinity in January. Shamrocks star Nathan Dieudonne is currently in a serious groove, he posted 21 points and 11 boards in a comeback victory against Ballard. I expect Dieudonne to have another monster game in the championship even with the added pressure.

Born and raised in west Louisville, I am a mass media/advertising professional and proud University of Louisville and Morehead State University Alum. Having traveled over 20 states and overseas in my 24 years of living, I try but continue to struggle to find a town that can come close to the beauty, uniqueness and diversity found in Derby city. Louisville high school athletics and Cards Basketball consume me!
