My virgin Yum! Center experience will be very difficult to top as Beyoncé is unsurprisingly one of the best performers I've ever seen. While a bit tardy to taking the stage, she certainly didn't disappoint the masses during her 100th performance, banging out hits like "Irreplaceable", "Single Ladies", and "Halo" to name a few. The singer's charisma beamed over the hysterically excited crowd like rays of sweet, soulful sunshine.
I was floored by the production and delivery of the whole spectacle, with the numerous wardrobe changes, a banging female band, and wicked dance routines. Beyonce is pop and hip-hop royalty, and seeing her live should probably be on your bucket list. This is what a big concert should feel like: an exciting, slick, beautiful production akin to a Broadway show in scope. There's a lot to be said for smaller bands and venues, but Queen Bey did it up big, and that's just the way her fans like it.
Pop stars usually try and deliver songs as the fans want to hear them, with studio quality and very little remix or interpretation in the delivery. The crowd in attendance adored every second, from "Baby Boy" to "Crazy in Love" with an intro into "Run the World (Girls)." The Queen crushed it for nearly 90 minutes. If it's good enough for My Morning Jacket's Jim James, who I had the fortune of running into, it's good enough for you. Kudos Queen Bey and Yum! Center for really cranking out an amazing evening.
Yesterday was a big day for Beyonce, as she announced and dropped an Itunes exclusive (right now) album on the same day. The album, called "Beyonce" and now available on Itunes, has fourteen songs and seventeen videos. The final song, "Blue" features the singer's daughter Blue Ivy.
Sadly for students of Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts school, Queen Bey did not make an appearance at their school as they requested. But their adorable #Beyonceoutbreak video is still worth a watch. Better luck next time, kids!
