The Alley Theater is at it again.

Notorious for their outside-the-box productions, and recently garnering second place honors in both Best Theater Troupe and Best Live Theater categories in the Leo Weekly Reader’s Choice Awards for 2012, The Alley Theater has set the stage for the next big thing.

The Princess Bride Experience, billed as “part Renn Faire, part movie, part performance piece” takes place this Saturday, September 29.

A fundraiser for the coming season, the Experience starts at noon with vendor booths and costume contests, along with the beginning of an 8-hour continuous showing of The Princess Bride.

Fencing demonstrations, acrobatic and stage combat workshops and a variety of performances are scheduled throughout the day. The event culminates with a 10pm performance by the band Parade of Horribles.

A complete schedule can be found online.

Tickets for the Experience are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and children ages 3-14. They may be purchased online or by calling the Alley Theater box office at 502-713-6178.

The fundraiser will be held at 620 S. 3rd Street, next to the Henry Clay building.
