    Bit to Do

Fifty shades of hilarity at Fourth Street Live this evening
    Print this page

For those who know better than to buy the “Twilight” fan fiction-turned-New York Times bestseller “Fifty Shades of Grey” and happen to be at Fourth Street Live later this evening after happy hour, there is a surprise waiting for you at the Hard Rock Café beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Led by LEO Weekly’s own Sara “Bar Belle” Havens, local personalities will read selections from the trilogy – yes, the “Twilight” fan fic known as “Master of the Universe” spawned three books that make up the “Fifty Shades” trilogy – before a potentially buzzed audience in promotion of the “Fifty Shades” parody “Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody” at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts opening later this month.

If the idea of the trilogy’s more embarrassing – and inaccurately portrayed in some cases – sex scenes turns your stomach, fear not: Havens and company will substitute those awful scenes with winning Derby horses (Orb, I’ll Have Another, Animal Kingdom), brands of bourbon (Maker’s 46, Jack Daniels, Early Times), or “Beverly Hills 90210” characters. Havens will also attempt to turn the reading into a drinking game, so bring your A game and designated driver to the reading this evening.

Here are some of the scheduled performers for tonight’s deconstruction of the No. 1 best-selling fan fic in the world:

    • Sara “Bar Belle” Havens, LEO Weekly
    • Gabe Bullard and Erin Keane, WFPL
    • Vicki Rogers, WVEZ
    • Keith Kaiser, WDRB

The event is free and open to the public, aside from the bar tab, of course. The Hard Rock Café is located at Fourth Street Live near the escalator and stairs that lead to the second floor and the Louie Walk. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. this evening.
