
Expect an expansive variety of comedy, music, drama, and collaborations during Silver Creek High School Theatre's 2012-13 season.
During the 2012-13 season, Silver Creek High School will present eight shows, including: Once on This Island (Sept.), 44 Plays for 44 Presidents (Oct.), Seussical (Nov.), The Nutcracker (Dec.), Freckleface Strawberry (Jan.-Feb. 2013), Grease (March 2013), The Outsiders (April-May 2013), and the Kitchen Sink Festival 2013 (TBA). All performances will take place at Silver Creek High School, located at 503 N. Indiana Ave. in Sellersburg, IN.
Tickets for each show will be $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $6 for students. For only $3 more, VIP tickets will be available. Those tickets allow for better seating as well as free food and drink in the VIP lounge. Ticket information can be obtained by calling 812-246-7440 or going to silvercreektheatre.com.
Once on This Island, Silver Creek's opening show, is a collaboration between Silver Creek students and local professionals. The musical, featuring a peasant who brings people of different classes together with love, will be performed concert style. Performances will happen Sept. 7-15.
In October, Silver Creek will present 44 Plays for 44 President, which highlights each president and their impact on history. Performances will happen Oct. 5, 6, and 8.
Silver Creek will next bring Dr. Seuss characters to life in the show Seussical. Horton must protect the citizens of Whoville as well as an abandoned egg in this show, which runs Nov. 9-18.
Drake Dance Academy will then collaborate with Silver Creek Theatre at Christmas time for The Nutcracker. The annual Christmas tradition featuring a young girl, her Christmas gift, and a new world, will occur Dec. 14, 15, and 16.
Freckleface Strawberry will open the 2013 portion of Silver Creek's season, featuring a young girl and her friends who learn there's nothing wrong with the skin they live in. The all-ages show will tour in January and February with public shows yet to be announced.
Next, summer lovin will come early at Silver Creek in the musical Grease. The all-ages show that John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John made famous will take place in March.
Silver Creek will come of age in the production The Outsiders. The tale of two rival gangs in a turf war and one boy trying to figure out his place in the world will take place April 26-May 4.
Finally, Silver Creek will present the Kitchen Sink Festival 2013, which will feature Silver Creek performers doing everything from music to skits to comedy and more. Performance dates have yet to be announced.
