For almost three decades, Derby Dinner has presented a great variety of shows designed to entertain and educate children in Louisville and Southern Indiana. That tradition continues with the 2015-16 children’s theater season.
During its children’s season, Derby Dinner Playhouse will present four shows: “Junie B. Jones,” “Jack Frost Saves Christmas,” “Charlotte’s Web” and “Pinkalicious: The Musical.” All performances are to go on at Derby Dinner Playhouse, located at 525 Marriott Drive in Clarksville, IN.
Season tickets are available for purchase. Lunch show season tickets are $76 per adult and $38 per child. Breakfast show season tickets, meanwhile, are $56 per adult and $28 per child. More season ticket information can be found at the Derby Dinner Playhouse website or by calling the box office at 812-288-8281.
The children’s theater opens with “Junie B. Jones,” a sassy diva that takes audiences through her adventures in first grade. The musical comedy is based on Barbara Park’s books and will run Oct. 3-Nov. 7.
When the holiday season rolls around, Derby Dinner will help save it with “Jack Frost Saves Christmas.” With his newly-discovered icy magic, Jack will set out on an adventure to save Christmas. Jack Frost will save Christmas Nov. 14-Dec. 21. (By the way, Santa will be at all performances.)
“Charlotte’s Web” will open the second half of the children’s theater season, featuring a beloved pig named Wilbur and his best friend, a spider named Charlotte that weaves messages in her spider web. Those messages make Wilbur a sensation. “Charlotte’s Web” will be weaved Feb. 27-April 2.
Finishing up the year is “Pinkalicious: The Musical,” where a little girl and her brother deal with the girl turning pink after eating way too many cupcakes. The musical comedy, based on a New York Times bestseller, will go on May 21-June 25.
