One acts, radio plays, standard productions, guest productions, etc. Expect all of this and more during the Bellarmine University theatre program's 2013-14 season.
During the 2013-14 season, Bellarmine will present shows like: Baby With the Bathwater (Oct.), Mujeres de Ciudad Juare (Nov.), An Evening of One Acts (Nov.), A Christmas Carol radio show (Dec.), Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England (Feb. 2014), and the 3rd International Ten-Minute Plays Festival (Mar. 2013).
Tickets range from $5-$15, depending on the show and will become available as each show nears. All performances will go on at the Wyatt Center on the Bellarmine campus, located at 2001 Newburg Road in the Highlands.
Bellarmine University's theatre program will open October 18-26 with Baby With the Bathwater. The play showcases the wackiness, instability, and humor of Daisy's life with her unstable parents.
Following Nov. 1 and 2 will be the guest production Mujeres de Ciudad Juarez, which focuses on the treatment of, and violence against, females in an industrial town. Factory workers, prostitutes, and those in between are subjects.
Also in November will be An Evening of One Acts. Bellarmine's student theatre group, STAGE, will present two one-acts from Nov. 20-23.
Ending the 2013 portion of the year is A Christmas Carol radio play, going on Dec. 5-7. A slightly different take on the Christmas staple, A Christmas Carol is presented like a 1940s radio play.
The 2014 part begins with Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England, running Fab. 14-22, featuring a person who's not having a good week. Her college has financial struggles, a museum may be closing, and she has serious issues with an ex-lover.
The main season ends March 26-29 with the 3rd International New 10-Minute Plays Festival. The festival will present contest winning 10-minute plays with an environmental theme.
