    Pothole Blitz Hits Louisville Streets
    Print this page

If you were thinking the potholes around here were going to be extremely bad after all of the sub-zero temperatures and snowstorms of the last few weeks, you weren’t alone. And you weren’t wrong.

City officials say we are probably dealing with more potholes than in previous years, and more will open up through the spring. WLKY reports that officials say Louisville may have around 10,000 potholes right now.

Mayor Greg Fischer says we now have an official “pothole blitz” (and popped on a safety vest to ceremoniously throw a shovelful of filler into one of the evil holes). Metro Public Works crews are planning to spend the next month repairing potholes on major streets. Last year’s spring blitz saw 19,891 potholes filled.

You may already know that you can report potholes to the Public Works department by calling 311 or through the Louisvilleky.gov website. What you may not know is that you can also report damage to your vehicle caused by a pothole and, depending on the circumstances, you may be eligible for reimbursement for those expenses. Call 311 to find out more or to report damage, and make sure that you have the exact location, time and any other details you can provide.
